A total of 153,847 registered employees who were dismissed without any fault attributable to the worker began to receive unemployment insurance benefits during the year 2025. During the coverage period, which extends for up to 12 months, beneficiaries maintain their health insurance, family allowances, and the accrual of seniority for retirement.
Regarding the payment scheme, it is descending: the first four months, 100% is received; from the fifth to the eighth month, 80%; and from the ninth to the twelfth month, 70%.
According to what Noticias Argentinas agency could learn, the current regulatory framework establishes that those who have been in an employment relationship under Law 24.013 and suffer a job loss for external causes are entitled to this benefit.
As stipulated by the Minimum Wage Council in 2023, the benefit must be «equivalent to 75% of the worker's best, normal, and usual monthly remuneration in the 6 months prior to the job loss», with the Resolution clarifying that in no case can the amount be less than 50% or more than 100% of the current Minimum, Vital, and Mobile Salary.
This figure, based on official data from the Social Security system, reflects a sustained increase in state assistance, reaching in December «the highest monthly record of the entire past year» with 103,654 beneficiaries receiving an average payment of $276,944.
Of the total new cases processed in the previous year, the sectoral impact showed a greater incidence in manufacturing, with 36,648 cases, followed by commerce with 32,630 and construction with 25,311.
Among the fundamental requirements, the «having had at least 6 months of work with contributions in the last 3 years prior to dismissal» stands out.
Demographically, the territorial distribution shows a strong concentration in the Buenos Aires province: «44,145 resided in the province of Buenos Aires», while in Santa Fe 7,675 were counted, in Córdoba 7,825, and in the City of Buenos Aires 6,720.
The Social Security system recorded a peak of 103,654 active benefits during the last month of December.
